“Growth and change throughout its 150 year history”
Although Cary has seen a lot of growth and change throughout its 150-year history, remnants of the past can be found throughout the town and within its traditions. The same ingenuity that led to its founding drives its work today and guides its vision for the future. This historic milestone creates an opportunity to reflect on past accomplishments, celebrate who we are, and build excitement for all that is yet to come.
With more than 30 public parks, 82 miles of trails, concerts, sporting events and outdoor festivals throughout the year, there is a lot to see and do in Cary. Yet the greatest thing about Cary is the people who live here. People from all over the world call this wonderful place home and volunteer their time and talents to keep it thriving. Cary would not be the desirable place it is today without the proactive and thoughtful leadership of its elected officials and the support of each and every citizen.
“Best place to live, work, and play.”
“Creatively and safely celebrate this beloved town”
While this year’s celebration will look different than planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate Cary’s sesquicentennial throughout the year. This includes a virtual scrapbook full of moments in Cary’s history as told by its citizens, visitors, and friends.
